Its not uncommon for me to fall into friendship with my clients. We become very close during the course of planning events and or sending special flower deliveries. Such is the case with my friends Bradie and Star James. This month Modern Luxury Brides Magazine will unveil the love story that I was priveledged to be associated with this past summer. CYMBIDIUM-THE BIG ANNOUNCEMENT!!!

Well you might just be wondering why the lack of words lately...and if you know me, well you know that is a rarity! It is because we have been so blessed and busy MOVING....to a new location, the pic above represents one of what seems to be a million boxes of our gorgeous packaging that we moved...and renovating HGTV style (read knocking out walls, cabinets, and painting not once, twice but yes THREE times to get the absolute perfect wall color)!

So drum roll please.....WE HAVE A NEW RETAIL LOCATION! We are so excited and even more excited to open our doors very soon. We are still fulfilling our daily duties, but we are just not quite accessorized to perfection for your viewing pleasure yet. We will have a soft opening next week, and a grand opening soon after. Pictures and details of the design to come soon!

Let me be clear in saying this though....WE ARE STILL CREATING, DESIGNING, AND DELIVERING on a daily basis, so keep those orders coming in ;)

This week I am in Phoenix, as a speaker for the Society of American Florists annual convention. I am excited and will blog and twitter full details later. I am speaking on a panel of distinguished floral proprietors, and I can not wait to get to meet them and learn from their talents!

Here is a sneak peak of what we are dabbling in for our fall floral collections. If I had to have a job other than co-owning CYMBIDIUM, I most likely would apply for a position at PANTONE. I am soooo in love with these deep tones. There are so many interesting flower combinations in these colors that will make for insane textures. Perfect for your home, office, or sending flowers to those who need to be spoiled by some perfect posies. Don't forget to sign up for our new floral classes, we have had an overwhelming response, and are already working on our classes for the holidays, event planner hopefuls, and floristry career courses!

CYMBIDIUM FLORAL DESIGN SCHOOL

Its official! Just as we promised here, we are launching our design school! We could not be happier, or more excited to share our secrets and get to know some of you! Below you will see an upcoming course schedule of workshops offered, and we are going to also have event design/planning courses in October....so stay tuned for that, as well as holiday specific decor and arranging classes in Nov. These courses also make great gifts, so don't be shy about giving the gift of education! It doesn't hurt that you get to take your creations home either!

UPCOMING COURSES AT THE CYMBIDIUM DESIGN SCHOOL :

CYMBIDIUM BASIC HAND-TIEDS: SEPT. 8TH 6:30-8:30PM

Designed to teach the basic skill of “spiraling” flowers, learn the most fundamental of skills to creating gorgeous hand-tied arrangements. These tied bunches, are the foundation of the CYMBIDIUM style of arranging flowers. Choices of stems are considered and color observed. Upon completion of this class, students can expect to know the following:

· The ability to design and create simple stunning bouquets

· A basic understanding of binding flowers together

· Basic fundamentals of proper flower care

CYMBIDIUM MODERN HAND-TIEDS AND THE PERFECT DOME: SEPT. 12: 9AM - 12:00

CYMBIDIUM’S signature style of hand-tied arrangements will be explored and explained in this course. Modern techniques, and a contemporary approach to traditional materials will be the focus of the day. We will show you how to layer mono-blooms, as well as how to create interesting textures and color combinations. The perfect dome, shown in high fashion magazines, and highlighted in contemporary interiors, is a style that has made a name for itself. A perfectly coiffed dome is no easy feat. We will give you instruction on how to achieve the best results with the perfect flowers.

DESIGNS FOR ENTERTAINING: Fall Dinner Flowers and the Super Market Bunch

SEPT.22 6:30 - 8:30PM

Be inspired with flowers for dinner parties and entertaining. This class will focus on the use of fall flowers, and specific themes/color palettes that will be sure to impress the most discerning of guests. As an added bonus, our instructors will teach you how to get the most out of a supermarket bunch that may show up at your party as a hostess gift.

WEDDING FLOWERS: One-Day Workshop: SEPT. 17 6:30 - 8:30PM

This workshop provides a one-day overview of wedding floristry. We will share with you; two must have techniques to creating a basic selection of wedding flowers. Students will also be shown how to select flowers based on a specific theme or color palette, as well as how to get the most out of your stems that you purchase for your wedding. Students will walk away with the skills to create or fix a basic bouquet, basic wiring techniques for personal flower work, and a basic overview of seasonally appropriate flowers for weddings.

SEPT.19 9AM - 12:00

This course is designed to educate you on what is available, and the price range you are looking at when trying to determine how much money you will need to allocate for flowers for your wedding. This workshop also allows you to see specific flowers in your specific color palette. You tell us what your palette is when you sign up, and on the day of your course flowers will be specifically brought in for you. On the day, private attention is given to each student to answer specific questions about your wedding flowers. The instructor also walks you through basic wedding contracts as well as budgeting materials. Please note two guests per student are allowed on this course.

FLOWERS FOR THE HOME AND BASIC VASE DESIGNS: SEPT.15 9AM - 12:00

Flowers for the home was created to give you some basic techniques and rules that you can follow to create gorgeous floral designs appropriate for your home. We will also spend time going over quick and effective ways to display flowers in vases, a subject everyone would like to master! You will also take home a selection of vases to recreate your arrangements over and over again.
